Open Way Learning and the Human Restoration Project are helping Michigan middle schools build student agency through interdisciplinary PBL, portfolio-based assessment, teacher collaboration, and sustained coaching. At Madison Early College High School, community partnerships are turning learning into leadership. Teachers and students are connecting with local artists, organizations, and neighbors to co-create projects that rebuild and inspire—from carving messages of hope into clay bricks to performing at community festivals.
