Margaret Borden is recognized by the North Carolina Collaborative for Mathematics Learning for her contributions to the NC
mathematics education community.
OWL Fellow Margaret Borden was recently recognized and awarded for contributing to the NC mathematics education community. As a co-designer in the VISIONS project of the North Carolina Collaborative for Mathematics Learning, she has been working tirelessly alongside mathematics educators and leaders from across the state since the summer of 2022.
"The VISIONS project is a collaborative effort involving researchers from four universities within the UNC system, STEM leaders from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and mathematics educators from various school districts across the state. Since its inception in 2022, the partnership has focused on three grade bands (K-5, 6-8, 9-12) to identify practice-related issues and develop resources and experiences that nurture a mathematics community where every student in NC can excel mathematically."
They have created resources that assist educators, leaders, and families in implementing high-quality, equitable math instruction and encourage collaboration among state, district, and school-based leaders, mathematics teachers, mathematicians, and researchers who jointly design essential tools for all grade levels. The Collaborative’s research seeks to expand knowledge about resources, practices, and structures that can enhance coherence for high-quality, equitable mathematics instruction statewide.
Congratulations to Margaret Borden for her continued commitment and work towards high quality, equitable mathematics instruction for the students of North Carolina!
